With Major League Baseball’s trade deadline nearing, the Cardinals made a move on Monday that added to their rotation and outfield mix.
The Cardinals acquired right-handed starter Erick Fedde and outfielder Tommy Pham from the Chicago White Sox in a three-team deal that sent utilityman Tommy Edman and prospect Oliver Gonzalez to the Dodgers, and netted the White Sox a three players from the Dodgers.

Acquired: Signed as an international free agent (Panama) in February 20224
2024 season: In his first season as a pro, Gonzalez made seven appearances (four starts) for the DSL Cardinals. The 17-year-old, whose signing became official nearly two weeks after the 2024 international signing window opened, logged 21 1/3 innings and posted a 4.22 ERA while striking out 26 batters and walking seven. He had shown “advanced pitchability” for his age and improvements with his fastball velocity, per Baseball America’s scouting report of the right-hander. Gonzalez’s fastball touched 93 mph in the short-season DSL. He flashed a mid-70s curveball and a low-80s changeup to compliment his improved fastball.
