A 6-foot-3 sophomore guard, Adkinson scored 30 points in back-to-back games less than 24 hours apart to help the Statesmen to a pair of overtime victories away from home. In a 69-68 nonconference win at Jackson, Adkinson added five rebounds, four assists and three steals to his scoring output. In a game that tipped off about 22 hours later as part of the O’Fallon Shootout, Adkinson was 12 of 16 from the field and had four rebounds in a 71-68 win over Chicago Whitney Young. He averages 22.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.4 steals for the Statesmen (15-4), who have won 11 of their last 12 games and lead the Suburban Conference Yellow Pool.

A junior and returning state medal winner, Green captured the 132-pound championship in the Class 1A Roxana Regional by topping Althoff senior Brenden Rayl in a battle between undefeated wrestlers. Green emerged victorious with a 12-9 decision, improving to 34-0 this season with his third consecutive regional championship. He will seek a second sectional title in three seasons this week in Carterville. Ranked No. 1 at 132 pounds in the state according to , Green also won tournament titles this season at Mascoutah and Princeton. He finished fourth at the 1A state tournament last season at 132 and won two rounds at 126 as a freshman.

The Red Knights captured the Webster Winter Challenge with a 76-46 victory against Cardinal Ritter in the title game behind 26 points and five assists from Hill, a 5-foot-10 senior wing who has signed to continue her career at Eastern Michigan University. An all-tournament selection, Hill averaged 19 points in three games, shooting 68 percent from the field. She had 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals in an 83-34 semifinal win over Cor Jesu and opened the tournament with 19 points and 7 rebounds in an 83-62 win over John Burroughs. For the season, Hill is averaging 15.6 points and 3.4 assists, and she has scored 920 points in her four-year career.

Sadie Levy, Parkway CentralÂ

A senior guard, Levy has helped the Colts to a six-game win streak that includes the championship of last week’s 45th Villa Duchesne Queen of Hearts Tournament. Levy had 23-point efforts both in a 49-46 semifinal win over Duchesne and a 52-26 win over Villa Duchesne in the first round. She wrapped the tournament with 16 points and five rebounds in a 52-36 title game win over Whitfield. She also scored a career-high 42 points Monday in a 62-45 win over Seckman. Levy recently became the 11th girl in program history to break the 1,000-point plateau. She is the program’s all-time steals leader with 401 and school’s all-time leader in 3-pointers with 168.

A 6-foot-1 senior guard, three-year starter and four-year varsity player, Lintker helped the Yellow Jackets improve to 16-8 by winning three games last week. In a 69-54 win at Marissa in a Cahokia Conference Kaskaskia Division game, Lintker had 23 points, eight rebounds and five steals. He followed with 10 points and four assists in a 70-39 league win at Dupo, then closed the week with 18 points and six assists in an 80-39 nonconference win over Red Bud. Lintker has been an all-tournament selection this season at Christopher, Sesser-Valier and Chester. He averages 18.5 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists and is nearing the program’s all-time scoring lead.

Brooke Rose, Kirkwood

The Pioneers have won seven of their last eight games and Rose has helped spearhead that effort. A 5-foot-9 junior guard, she equaled her career high by scoring 29 points in a 58-32 win at Lindbergh in a Suburban Conference Red Pool game. She also scored 24 points and grabbed three rebounds in a 63-37 nonconference home victory against Nerinx Hall. For the season, Rose ranks near the top of the area leaderboard with a scoring average of 20.7 points per game on 44.8 percent shooting from the field. She also averages 4.9 rebounds, 2.6 steals and 1.8 assists. Rose has scored in double figures in all but two games this season.

Grace Stratton, Freeburg

A junior in her first season in Freeburg’s second-year program, Stratton won the 155-pound championship in the Civic Memorial Regional girls wrestling tournament Feb. 1 and advanced to compete this weekend in the Highland Sectional. Stratton pinned all three of her opponents to become the first regional champion in program history, finishing the effort by pinning O’Fallon freshman Kira Thompson at the 1:15 mark of the title match. Thompson had beaten Stratton earlier in the season for Stratton’s only loss in a girls match. Stratton has competed on a national level in jiu-jitsu and also plays football for Freeburg, rushing six times for 24 yards last fall.
