Harvard To Introduce Free Tuition For Families Earning Under $200K

  • 0

Harvard University, located in Massachusetts, has announced that it will provide free tuition to students from families earning less than $200,000 a year. The Ivy League university made the announcement in an effort to make a Harvard education more accessible to middle-income families. Set to launch at the beginning of the 2025/2026 academic year, the initiative will cover housing, food, and health services for students from families with an annual income of $100,000.  According to Harvard's website, annual tuition for an undergraduate is $56,550, with the total cost rising to $82,866 when including housing, food, health, and student services.  "Putting Harvard within financial reach for more individuals widens the array of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives that all of our students encounter, fostering their intellectual and personal growth," explained Harvard University President Alan Garber.  The Ivy League university's new plan will allow approximately 86% of US families to qualify for this financial aid . This initiative has come as a result of the Trump administration's recent threat to cut financial aid to universities over diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.  The program is one of many that Harvard has introduced over the years to lower annual tuition fees for students.
