ST. LOUIS — The Circuit Attorney's Office has dismissed charges against a St. Louis man accused of a 2016 double homicide in the city.
Prosecutors on Tuesday dismissed two counts of murder, one count of assault and three counts of armed criminal action against Devion Chester, 29, of St. Louis.
The reason for the dismissal was not immediately clear. Allison Hawk, a spokeswoman for the Circuit Attorney's Office, said "the case is under investigation. We cannot speak about this case."
She said she didn't know if the case would be refiled.
The charges were filed more than two years after the July 4, 2016, shooting outside Moma Minnie’s convenience store at Page Boulevard and Pendleton Avenue. The shooting, captured on surveillance video, showed two men exit a Dodge Charger and begin firing. Killed in the shooting were Samuel Jackson, 31, and Jamie Conner, 21.
