U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., met with law enforcement, faith leaders and members of the newly formed Ferguson Commission in Ferguson on Sunday and today.
“I was glad to hear from a number of area residents, as well as law enforcement and National Guard members who are working to protect local homes and businesses," Blunt said in a statement. "I continue to believe that we all share the goal of peacefully healing and rebuilding the community after months of unrest."
Blunt's visit to the area follows Gov. Jay Nixon's creation of the Ferguson Commission to address the issues that preceded the most recent spate of violence there, and issues going forward.
Blunt's statement said he met with the co-chairs of the Commission, Rich McClure and Reverend Wilson. Also in attendance were Missouri House Majority Leader and Speaker-Designee, John Diehl, and Executive Director of Civic Progress St. Louis, Tom Irwin.
