GadellNet, an IT company on Hanley Industrial Court, in Brentwood, is moving to the city.
UIC, a St. Louis-based developer, says it is doing a $1.4 million project to help relocate GadellNet to the building UIC owns at 1520 South Vandeventer Avenue. The structure is a 1930s industrial building with an addition from the '80s.
Brent Crittenden, UIC's managing principal, says the location off Interstate 44 is a gateway to the growing Cortex life sciences district. GadellNet needs more room and will add jobs at the Vandeventer location, Crittenden says.
Because it's an IT firm, GadellNet wants space like something found in northern California, Crittenden adds. He says the company has 35 workers now and will employ more.
“Talent recruitment for them is a big deal, so having a stylish office with a game room and workout area, will help a great deal,†Crittenden says. “It is also interesting to see a local tech firm opting for a city location and how that mirrors what is happening with startups choosing San Francisco over Silicon Valley.â€
