The Los Angeles Rams are appealing a St. Louis Circuit Court decision that the dispute over the team’s bid to buy a multimillion-dollar Earth City athletic facility for $1 should be heard in court and not before a private arbitration panel.
St. Louis Circuit Court Judge Jason Sengheiser denied the Rams’ motion earlier this month to move the case to arbitration after a morning hearing on the lawsuit, filed in October by the owner of the practice facility, the St. Louis Regional Convention and ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Complex Authority.
The sports authority’s lawsuit seeks to void the Rams’ $1 option to purchase the Earth City facility where it once practiced, and the Rams quickly filed to move the case to arbitration, which was denied.
The team’s notice of appeal was filed Dec. 18. The Los Angeles Rams contend the contract with the regional authority requires that disputes be settled in arbitration, not the legal system.
