Ronald McDonald House Charities of St. Louis wants to build a roughly $22 million new facility in Forest Park Southeast just south of Highway 40 (Interstate 64) from St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
The nonprofit presented their plans for the building at 4321 Chouteau Avenue, at the intersection with Tower Grove Avenue to the neighborhood group, Park Central Development, this week.
The project will consolidate the charity, which provides living space for families with seriously ill children. It has locations now near St. Louis University Hospital at 3450 Park Avenue and in the Central West End at 4381 West Pine Boulevard.
The site contains a Baptist church and warehouse buildings formerly owned by Jack Baumstark Sr. until Ronald McDonald House acquired the property earlier this year.
The project envisions 60 living units in the housing area along with public space and 12,780 square-feet of office space. An 81-space parking lot will also be created.
