Lynn Schmidt’s column “Anti-MAGA alone may not be enough for a Harris victory“ (Sept. 8) demonstrates what is either confusion or willful misrepresentation of the choices we face in our upcoming presidential election.
By saying that “one candidate lies and the other does not talk,†Schmidt shows that she hasn’t noticed that Kamala Harris speaks enthusiastically about policy on the campaign trail virtually every day.
Schmidt posits that if Donald Trump wins the election, it will prove that the election was “more about policy and less about feelings.†I maintain that Donald Trump hasn’t been able to outline a single policy with any clarity whatsoever, and speaks more and more frequently in ways that demonstrate a complete inability to comprehend any given issue.

In contrast, Harris has outlined specific plans regarding the economy, healthcare, women’s bodily autonomy, energy, and foreign policy.
When Schmidt states that a Trump win would indicate that voters feel that the “known is preferable to the unknown,†my reaction is that a known megalomaniac, with delusions about his abilities and his limitations cannot be preferable to another known — Harris — whose public service demonstrates statesmanship, dignity, respect for the rule of law, and the willingness to work to preserve a high quality of life for all Americans.
Before you vote, ask yourself this: Which candidate wants to do things to help people? Which candidate wants to do things to protect people? Which candidate actually shows respect for her fellow Americans?
