ST. LOUIS • Police reported Thursday that they found 15 guns and a "quantity of marijuana" in the St. Louis home at which a 21-year-old man was shot to death by SWAT team members executing a search warrant.
Police said Isaiah Hammett opened fire on officers after they had announced themselves and broke down the front door to his grandfather's home in the 5400 block of South Kingshighway. . No officers were injured.
O’Toole said First District detectives recently had been conducting an investigation and suspected that Hammett was involved in the sale of illegal guns and drugs. That investigation is ongoing, police said.

Hammett fired at officers with a semi-automatic AK-47 rifle with a 30-round magazine, according to police. They said they found 14 additional weapons in the home. They also found drugs, but described it only as a "quantity of marijuana."
Family said Hammett cared for a grandfather at the home. The grandfather, Daniel Torres, told the Post-Dispatch Wednesday that there were several guns in the home, which he said he owned legally.
